(7) Hello from Norway!
We left our hotel this morning after an English breakfast and a bowl of cereal and headed for terminal 3.
This morning at Heathrow with our bikes in their boxes
We nearly missed our flight – we don’t really have an excuse except Tim was off buying chocolate and got carried away : )
I looked at the departures board and it said ‘boarding’ – Sara and I started getting our things together and I made a quick call home. I glanced back at the board and it said ‘gate closing’ – panic! Sara and I called Tim and started walking (then running) quickly towards our gate but it was further than we thought. We arrived at the gate out of breath (should have done more training) and the lady at departures said to a colleague ‘you can cancel the baggage search please, there are 2 of them here’…..oops
We apologised to the boarding staff and then had to get on the plane with everyone staring at us – great start!!
We had 2 hours in Oslo and had to collect the bikes and luggage and check them in again for our flight to Alta. Needless to say we arrived at the gate 30 minutes early.
Sara and Tim boarding the connecting flight to Alta -Sara obviously doesn’t think much of the pilot’s flying skills
Flying into Alta we both felt really excited and we’re beginning to realise how truly amazing this adventure will be.
It’s 7.40pm local time. Tim is building up the bikes whilst I write and we are off to the supermarket to buy our dinner and find somewhere to stay in a bit.
Tim building up the bikes in Alta airport – there’s no-one here- next flight is due in at 10.30pm tonight. There’s no rush, it doesn’t get dark until August!!
